seminarhallwithallnewlyadmittedstudents.Thesession wasattendedbymorethan100students.Asragginghasbecomeamenace,acauseoffearandshockforfreshersinthecountry,itled

tonewlawthatcurbragging.

TheAwarenessProgramme’ aimedatmakingstudentsawareofthe laws of the country with respect to ragging and how it affects the lives of people victimized by it. Theprogrammecommencedwith Superintendent Mrs. Neha ,FacultyIn-chargeofAnti-RaggingCommittee,introducingthecommitteemembersandsession’simportanceforfreshersincollegelife.

Mrs. Neha  started the awareness session by defining ragging as stated by the Honorable SupremeCourt of India and Raghavan Committee and then proceeded to discuss a few cases of ragging in India thatresulted in death and severe damage to the mental state of victim and victim’s family. He also stated that thehighestnumbersofraggingcaseswerereportedin2019asperUGC.HealsodiscussedaboutvariousformofraggingtomakesurethatthestudentsareabletounderstandwhichactivitiesarestatedasragginginUGCrulesandregulation.Hediscussedaboutthevariouspunishmentsgiveninthecaseofragging.

Mrs. Neha highlightedtheHonorableSupremeCourt’sGuidelinestobefollowedbyuniversities,

collegesandothereducationalinstitutestocurbragging.HealsodiscussedtheRaghaanCommitteeReporton

Anti-RaggingandUGCguidelinesof2009.Heeducatedthestudentsontheproceduresforregistering

complainsandhowtoparticipateinmakingraggingfreecampus.Herespondedtoqueriesfromstudentswithrespecttoanti-raggingandthetalkconcludedwithacallto‘SaynotoRagging’.
